IGH Spring Shred Event Cancelled

In light of Governor Tim Walz’s decision to extend Minnesota’s Stay at Home order, on April 13, 2020 Mayor George Tourville and the City Council extended the Declaration of a State of Emergency for the City of Inver Grove Heights through May 31

Due to this, the IGH Spring Shred Event originally scheduled for Saturday, May 30 is cancelled. Please visit the Paper Shredding Events web page to receive event rescheduling updates. You can also follow our COVID-19 web page to stay up to date on other city impacts

Additional 2020 Confidential Paper Shredding Opportunities:

  • IGH Annual Clean Up Day: IGH City Hall Parking Lot (8150 Barbara Ave). Sat., Sept. 19, 2020 from 8am - Noon. Confidential document shredding will be provided for free at this event. Find a list of accepted items here
  • Year-Round Shredding Sites: To find local companies that provide shredding services year round, visit the Green Guide and search confidential material. Fees vary by business and already shredded paper is not accepted at most locations. Please contact the business to ensure they are currently operating and accepting confidential documents at this time.
  • Already Shredded Paper: If shredding at home, keep this out of your recycling cart. With new technology, shredded paper causes problems at recycling sorting facilities and often does not get recycled. Instead, put your shredded paper in a paper bag and drop off at The Recycling Zone, starting Wed. May 20, 2020 (reopening date due to COVID-19 impacts). Please note The Recycling Zone only accepts shredded paper and does not provide shredding services.

To find more information about confidential material shredding, visit the Paper Shredding Events web page.
