Hands-free Driving Now the Law in Minnesota

On Aug. 1, 2019, the statewide hands-free law went into effect, and you can no longer hold your phone while driving. What’s the easiest way to go hands-free? Decide not to use your phone while you’re behind the wheel.

Governor Tim Walz signed a new hands-free cell phone bill into law to help further reduce distractions behind the wheel. Remember, hands-free is not necessarily distraction-free. We want Minnesotans to stay safe, stay alive and stay out of trouble under the new law.

Watch this video with IGH Police Chief Chiodo and her team remind drivers about this new hands-free driving law:

Thanks to our state and our officers for keeping us safer!
