Night to Unite
Overview
Tuesday, August 2, 2011 neighborhoods throughout Inver Grove Heights are invited to participate in the annual Night to Unite crime and drug prevention event. Residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and city staff. During this time, many neighborhoods throughout the city host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, youth activities and anti-crime rallies, visits from the Police, Fire Departments along with elected officials and other city staff.
Block Party Visits
The Parks and Recreation Department would like to help you celebrate Night to Unite with a visit to your neighborhood block party. Depending on the size of your gathering and space available, we will come prepared with games and/or freebies for you and your neighbors. If you are interested in having us visit, please submit a completed Park and Rec Visit Application to:
8055 Barbara Ave.
Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077
The application must be sent by July 26. Staff will make every effort to visit as many events as possible between 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Parties will be given priority based on the date the application was submitted. If you have any questions or would like an application, please call (651) 450-2585.
Free CPR Classes
Want to try something new for your block party and possibly save a life? Dakota County Heart Restart, along with the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department, is offering free CPR classes to your Block Party. You and all of those attending have the chance to Learn CPR in less than 20 minutes. With an American Heart CPR Anytime Kit your Block party can learn CPR on their own throughout your event. Please check out this flyer for more information so you can attend one of our informational sessions or email us to receive more information about this program and receive additional training.
Join neighbors across Inver Grove Heights on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 for the fourth annual Night to Unite! Night to Unite celebrates and strengthens neighborhood and community partnerships.
If you are interested in having the Police and/or Fire Department visit, please contact Sergeant John Daniels at (651) 450-2466.
