The Inver Grove Heights Police Department is excited to announce openings for its 2013 Citizen’s Academy. The program is designed to offer citizen’s an inside look into the Inver Grove Heights Police Department’s operations. A wide spectrum of topics will be covered and include:
- Tour of the police department
- History of the police department
- Functions of patrol, investigations, emergency action group, physical evidence team, domestic abuse response team, negotiators, bike patrol, traffic and K-9 units
- Review of typical calls for service
- DWI demonstration
- Traffic stops, normal and felony stops
- Officer survival, use of force
- Laws of arrest
- Searching and handcuffing a suspect
Additional Information
The academy classes will be taught by Inver Grove Heights and South Saint Paul Police Officers. We ask that you make a commitment to attend each session. The 2013 sessions will be held each Wednesday from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The sessions will be held one day week from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The sessions will begin in early September and end in November.
After the successful completion of this program, citizens will be given an opportunity to ride-along with an Inver Grove Heights Police Officer during his or her shift. If you are interested in participating in the citizen’s academy, fill out an
