Rescue Trucks
More About the Rescue Truck
The rescue trucks are the primary vehicle used when responding to medical emergencies and traffic accidents with injuries.

The trucks are equipped with lifesaving supplies such as oxygen, automated external defibrillator (AED), oral airways, Res-Q-Pod, etc. The trucks also carry bandages, splints, ice packs, backboards, and other first aid supplies. Since the rescue truck is the primary vehicle used when responding to traffic accidents, it is outfitted with extraction tools, including hydraulic cutters, spreaders, and rams (commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life).

These tools are used to remove a vehicle from around a trapped, injured person.  These trucks also carry equipment for water and ice rescues.  This equipment includes an inflatable raft, wet suits, survival suits, oars, and life safety rope.

All Inver Grove Heights firefighters are, at a minimum, certified First Responders. Many of our firefighters are certified at the level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher. The Fire Department provides basic life support, first aid, and rescue services.
